We’ve all heard of spring cleaning, but what about winter cleaning? While winter cleaning doesn’t get nearly the reputation that it deserves, if you’re cooped up in the house to avoid sub-zero temps or winter snowstorms, what better way to keep yourself busy than will a little decluttering? Plus, it saves you time in the spring so that instead of being stuck inside cleaning, you can actually get out and enjoy the warmer weather! Be sure to save this list and use it when you decide to tackle that hallway closet or if you just need a jumpstart on ideas for cleaning up during the winter months!
Cleaning Check List:
- Put away all holiday decorations. Yes, this means finally getting rid of the pumpkin on your front porch you haven’t thrown out yet! Bonus points if you can get your decor into labeled bins that you can safely tuck away until next year!
- Refresh any play spaces. And that means tossing out toys your kiddos don’t play with anymore! With the new haul of goodies from the holidays, there are bound to be toys that are unused. Be sure to place them in a donation pile!
- Replace smoke alarm batteries. This is SUCH an important one that we often forget! But fires during the winter months are all too common with space heaters, furnaces, and even fireplaces. Keep your home and your family safe, and double-check!
- Clean out the fridge and wipe down the shelves. It’s time to get rid of all of those holiday cookies you have been nibbling on too! They can’t be fresh by now!
- Replace burnt-out light bulbs. It’s time to trade out holiday lights for new light bulbs indoors!
- Remove dust from air vents.
- Replace shower curtain liners. These can get so icky and so quick! It’s time to bring in new ones!
- Wipe down the fan blades.
- Wash duvet covers and sheets. Because is there ANYTHING better than fresh bed sheets? Definitely not!
- Organize dresser drawers and closets. While you’re at it, pull out clothes you know you won’t wear and thank yourself later for all the newfound space!
- Make a list of items to stock up on. This is especially important if you need to stock up on any winter essentials like batteries, flashlights, warm blankets, or space heaters!
- Make a list of home goals! Start the year off right and stay on track with a few goals for 2023. Thank me later!
